Paul - its interesting that you keep suggesting that people may not want to upgrade to Win 8. I first upgraded my mom's PC and left her to figure out what to do and she really likes it - especially the Mail tile and People tile. And I have now upgraded both my laptop and office PC (from Win 7) and it really works for me. I suspect that a lot many people will be interested to so - all my office colleagues are now ready to take this step.

Hi there Thurrott, I have been watching the Windows Weekly podcast for a short while and agree that you wish to promote discussion and ideas that are not the standard fanboi platform.

That being said, I hope you revisit your thinking regarding Microsoft releasing a Surface Phone possibly in the near future. I think it's an absolute must. It'll allow them the flexibility to not get 'owned' by any manufacturer individually or collectively as the case in the PC market. They have made the PC a painful experience with all the bloatware and cheap designs for years and years, better cut that possibility out now with Smartphone manufacturers now instead of later.

Also, there is the possibility of releasing an unlocked phone, not beholden to any insanely greedy Carrier (AT&T, etc.) that can give a fresh, unchained option to a consumer base that is tired of excessively expensive multi-year contracts. Perhaps Microsoft can partner up with a ting.com, buy em for that matter.

Is it my imagination or is L & L at TWIT maneuvering MJ & you out of the picture of hosting the most popular Windows podcast on the net? Sounds like the end of the tunnel possibly for SG as well for Security Now. Hmm…. Maybe it's just some tactic or head game to keep you all nervous and properly submissive by Leo(&Lisa of course) mentioning a 'new' Windows podcast on TWIT that is coming soon(he did the same with Steve Gibson recently as well regarding a 'new' Security podcast).
