Windows 7 Build 7077 Screens

With the release candidate (RC) version of Windows 7 looming, Microsoft has released what promises to be one of the last (if not the last) post-Beta version of its next client OS. Windows 7 build 7077 differs just a bit from the previous leaked build 7068.

The first obvious visible difference is that the build string has been simplified to just "Version 6.1 (Build 7077)" in the About Windows dialog (winver.exe) and in the desktop watermark, whereas in previous interim builds a longer internal build string was used.

Action Center doesn't make an appearance in the system tray right away for some reason, though it's still there and working. (Presumably.) It shows up eventually.

And there are some new HomeGroup UI bits, including new icons that appear for shared libraries when you navigate into another machine on your Homegroup.

Checking on my pet peeve missing (or partially missing) features from the previous several builds, I can see that Guest Mode is still missing in action. And Play To does not appear unless a compatible network device is present; previously, it would work with other Windows 7-based PCs on the network as well.

I'll keep looking to see if I can find anything else.
