Has Microsoft announced that the next version of Exchange will be called Exchange 2010? I don’t believe so, but that name appears in the Download Center now, so it must be true.

I think MS needs to release SaaSS (subscription service) for locally deployed software. That way, you can automatically opt into the latest version of your software every time they release an update.
I guess these software packages are to admins what madden is to jocks....enough people buy it each year to justify a next iterative version.
I run my own exchange server from home on a dell computer it runs great but I am tired of the heat and noise. Why can't Microsoft offer this in live for a fee, or at least offer push for email, contacts, calendar, task on hotmail.
question is, how much more stuff can they put in an e-mail server........ I mean come on its only e-mail, calendar etc...
It's just like office, they keep adding features, but I bet the vast majority of users still only use features found in a 20 year old version.

I disagree exchange is not just an email server it is a point of communication for you company. For example you can use VoIP, share docs, calendars, company directory, appointments, tasks, collaborate. I'm just naming a few things, and not to mention push email is great.
On another note it is not really meant as a consumer product.
Exchange is awesome. I just don't know what else they could add to 2003 or even 2007 to make me want to upgrade. Unless, of course, they stop patching 2003/2007. :)
