How NOT to handle the Christmas rush

So I know I'm procrastinator, but here it is literally 7 days until Christmas and I'm shopping online. After finally picking out some things that are actually in stock, here's the message I get after a nice long wait at the browser:

Our site is temporarily unavailable while we perform routine maintenance. To place an order, call 1-800-xxx-xxxx or please try again later.

Way to go, guys.

PS: You may want to spend some of that Christmas money on a faster server for this blog. I haven't seen pages load this slow since trying to check my pre-MSN Hotmail on a 486 running Windows 95 using a 14.4 modem.
