iMac shuffle

Good stuff:

The simplest Mac you'll ever use.

Introducing the new iMac shuffle. It’s the desktop that had everything. Now, there’s less. We've taken out that pesky glass screen and carved the entire computer out of aluminum, for extra sturdiness. Why no screen? Well, we wanted to make the iMac shuffle even more lightweight than its predecessors, and make sure that there was nothing to distract you from the Apple logo. For inspiration, we looked to our newest, most brillant product... the new iPod shuffle.

Amazingly Uncomplicated

Taking out the screen allowed us to make the iMac even thinner. Seriously, if we turned it to the side, you nearly wouldn't be able to see it. We've also built in our latest technology - VoiceOver. We liked moving the iPod controls out of the iPod shuffle so much that we decided to replace the keyboard and mouse with the same elegant input device...our inline remote. With the combination of VoiceOver and the remote, you'll never miss your old screen. Who needs all those colors anyway? We've enclosed a complete 72,000 page manual that will tell you everything you need to know about navigating using the remote. Using just those 3 buttons, remote, you can easily jump to any window, launch any program...edit multi-layered Photoshop documents, anything your heart desires, you can imagine doing.

Ports? Who needs those?

We've also taken out all of those unnecessary USB, Firewire and display ports. We always remove at least one useful port/storage device at random from each new Mac revision, so we figured that we'd just get a jump on ourselves and remove them all this time. Normally we replace them with a newer port/device (Floppy to CD-ROM, or DVI to Mini DisplayPort), but since we're so far ahead of ourselves, we honestly just don't have anything to replace them with yet. After removing them, we found that we enjoyed the clean lines of this smooth metal chassis so much that honestly, we just might not bring any ports back.

What'd we leave in? The power button and the bottom-facing speakers. That way you can hear the amazingly impressive Mac startup chime and VoiceOver in all its glory.

It's the same iMac you love inside, with nothing to get in your way on the outside.

Any color you want...The choice is yours!

The new iMac shuffle is available in any color you want, as long as it's silver on silver.

LOL. Thanks Sebastian V. for the link.

What I think is funny is that Paul has failed to even mention the announcement regarding iPhone 3.0. Let's review Paul's history with the iPhone. 1) Initially gives the iPhone only three stars. 2) Over time admits that it is the phone he uses before all others. 3) Continues to bash iPhone, yet continues to say how in spite of its severe limitations it is his main phone. 4) 3G iPhone comes out with new software, Paul concedes that he has made a mistake, re-rates iPhone to four stars. 5) Paul continues to bash the iPhone and ATT because of a lack of features. 6) Apple announces new software that will be give FREE to iPhone users, that answers virtually EVERYONE of Paul's complaints about the phone (accept for being linked to ATT) and Paul says..... Silence. regards Joe Dokes

"Apple announces new software that will be give FREE to iPhone users, that answers virtually EVERYONE of Paul's complaints about the phone (accept for being linked to ATT) and Paul says..... Silence." A little early to claim silence, now isn't it? If another two days passes and nothing is said, then you can claim silence, but Paul likes to be a little more thorough. And, um, this i not available to the general public yet. So save your complaining until we actually get a SHIPPING product. That said, it does address many of his and others concerns, but it is not free for Touch users, they get dragged though the mud always. And newer versions of other smarthphone platforms are also not charged, so the free argument is a little specious. A little late to the party on A2DP, which was a lame omission. The speculated Pre-like features are missing, but that was just speculation and not by Paul, so they get a pass for that (you see how this works rj?) If I was an iPhone user I'd be excited about the release. "Continues to bash iPhone, yet continues to say how in spite of its severe limitations it is his main phone." So, what does that tell you? Paul, being human and not beholden to the Apple logo and the Apple loving press, actually wants to evaluate it on the its salient points, and not just a PR redo. What a concept! A concept that I wish would spread to the general MSM.

I thought I read that Paul gave up the iPhone. It was to expensive or there was not enough pain in his life so he decided to go with WinMo full time. This iMac Shuffle is not even funny to be honest. The Onion skit set the standard, this passes as junk mail that I dont get through the first line before I hit delete. I have not doubt Paul will post how the 17 million iPhones sold is not real or if you look at iPhones sold on the Space Station compared to WinMO devices the iPhone really has no market share.

lotsa and joe, Nice strawmen you guys created. Paul links to a parody of Mac Ads and what is the response? Ad Hominem attacks. Typical fanboy response. They don't hear what they want and they attack. Now lotsa throws Wae under the bus. Frankly, people have probably learned more from Wae's responses than all of yours combined. Guys, seriously! This was a parody. It was not a legitimate shot at Apple. What if SNL did the same thing? If you can't take a joke, then maybe this forum is too much responsibility for you. I thought it was hilarious. If you can't take a joke, then perhaps you both need to work on your sense of humor. If anything guys, get a life. Go drink some green beer. Happy Saint Patty's day everyone. Peace.

"And newer versions of other smarthphone platforms are also not charged" Not charged and not often given the bits to update. Its new phone time, unless you can find a bootleg copy. My orginal BlackJack had WinMo 5.02 or whatever. They (ATT) never gave us the update to 6.0. You had to buy a new phone. Plus how many of these new features are more for a Mobile Phone vs an Ipod?

"What I think is funny is that Paul has failed to even mention the announcement regarding iPhone 3.0." This is a site about Windows, it seems you people don't get it. If you want to hear praise about apple go to an apple site. "This looks like a serious update, and both users and developers should be pleased with everything Apple has added." Hey Ocean, its a fake product. Oops! your a tool!

"My orginal BlackJack had WinMo 5.02 or whatever. They (ATT) never gave us the update to 6.0." You didn't need 6.0 to get copy and paste, MMS, and background notifications or multitasking though.

Apple are 'doing right' by releasing the 3.0 software to the current hardware, much like Microsoft 'does right' by releasing the Zune software updates to existing devices. That is one of the bigger downside of the WinMo platform (and one that appears to be on the radar to fix in WinMo 7) that you have to buy a new device to get anything new. On Topic: The parody is funny enough. Interestingly it was created by Apple users, not anti-Applers, purely to make a point that going 'simple' can be taken too far.

Want a comment on the joke, okay. It wasn't that good, as others have said the onion piece on the click wheel was FAR better. As a matter of fact, I really wanted to comment on his post regarding Bernie Maddoff, NOW THAT WAS TRULY FUNNY. I felt bad that the discussion deteriorated into a pissing contest and Paul shut down the thread. Regarding the issue of it not being a released product, Paul comments on pre-release product all the time. Dip Stick, my issue with Paul and the iPhone is that he perpetually claims to be "objective" personally I really wish the ENTIRE journalistic field would drop this whole objective stance. No one is objective, does that mean their analysis is wrong? Not necessarily, but it does mean that you have to examine their arguments and draw your own conclusions. Edge iPhones were a good product, the first smart phone that was actually usable. Paul gave it an overly harsh review and then proceeded to use the snot out of the thing because, while it didn't do everything it did a tremendous amount far better than any competing product. My issue is that he gave Vista 4 Stars while he gave the iPod 3, thus, while Paul has backed away to some degree from his enthusiastic endorsement of Vista, he has never given the iPhone the enthusiasm it deserves. Further, people like Hamiltonstalling are the one's who don't get it. There are those of us who came over here from internet-nexus, in addition although this is a windows site it is clear that Paul frequently comments on ALL things technical. As a result people chime in on all things technical. For me, personally, I come around occasionally to see what Paul thinks, in all honesty Paul occasionally has something interesting or insightful to say. Further, as someone who thinks, I like to hear a variety of views about a topic, it enlightens me, makes me think. For example, even though I think Waethorn has an IQ that hovers near room temperature, he occasionally has something insightful to say. RobertsJoe on the other hand is a troll who should not be fed. The internet is the ultimate market of ideas, good ideas eventually do win. Regards Joe Dokes

I stand corrected on the Black Jack/WinMO 6.0 issue. It must have taken a loooooong time because my Black Jack came from my company, WinMO 6.0 shipped there was at least 6 moths where you could not get it, then we switched to BlackBerries, so I never knew. The point still stands with WinMo, your at the mercy of the provider/phone maker. They want to sell phones so pushing you to a new one is in their interest. The day 3.0 ships is they day you will be able to get it for existing iPhone users. "Further, people like Hamiltonstalling are the one's who don't get it." Cant blame him really looking at his post count he/she has not been here long enough to know that the Winsupersite is anything but only a Windows site. He does not know that Paul has a long time love/hate fest with Apple, to the point of weird almost. Paul's own words through out the years can easily be found. I really like the ones about Apple failing soon. Hamiltonstalling looks like he has a hardon for Lindy with his fangirl wintard posts, who just ignores him/her. Hamilton is the robertsjoe of clan Microsoft.

@vedichymn: I had those features in a UT Starcom (actually HTC) 6700. They're also found in the Moto Q. "Edge iPhones were a good product, the first smart phone that was actually usable." You know, you claim to know what objectivity is but you still don't grasp the concept. Besides, most of Paul's ranting is on his blog.

Wethorn, Perhaps you should re-read my post. I not only said Paul was unobjective, I said objectivity is impossible, everyone has a bias. Understanding your own bias is one way to mitigate the effects of it. Am I objective? Hell No. At the same though I think that truth does exist getting at it though is REALLY hard, that is why it takes multiple independent studies to convince me of anything. That is why I was a skeptic of global warming for so long. Does this make me objective? No. Because NO ONE is objective. That is my point. Regards Joe

"Because NO ONE is objective." Really? I like to think that spec sheets are as objective as you can get. That's probably why I don't buy into Apple's marketing, claiming that their products are the newest thing since sliced bread. The spec sheets show otherwise though.
