Microsoft announces enterprise features for Internet Explorer 8

Via email:

Today, we are announcing a number of enterprise features that will be available in Internet Explorer 8 (IE8).  IE8 will include deployment and manageability improvements for IT administrators including the ability to:

  • Add IE8 as part of IT’s Windows Vista image;
  • Use Group Policy to control how IE8 renders older Web sites;
  • Improve crash resilience for quicker recovery and minimal disruption; and
  • Manage and deploy customized versions of IE8 with an enhanced Internet Explorer Administration Kit (IEAK).

These features are scheduled to be available in IE8 Beta 2, which will be available in August.

More information is available on the IE Blog.

The ability to integrate IE8 into Vista is noteworthy, something we wish we could easily do with IE7 and XP.
