Microsoft Partners with Live Nation on Section 7 Online Community

From Microsoft:

Windows and Live Nation announced they have teamed up to offer a new and simple way of connecting music fans with the music and artists they love most – a new online community know as Section 7.  Windows 7 Section 7 offers music lovers a host of insider benefits, including exclusive ticket buying options, discounts and opportunities to meet their favorite artists, fan clubs, great deals on tickets, merchandise and more. It also features a unique Daily Offer every weekday that connects fans with great deals to concert tickets and merchandise from their favorite artists. In the first few weeks, members will be able to access the following offers:

$7 concert tickets from Live Nation artists such as 311, Switchfoot, Flogging Molly and Jacks Mannequin

$7 merchandise from artists such as Kings of Leon, Shakira, Incubus, Madonna, Interpol, Jay-Z

In addition, the first 37,000 people who sign up for Section 7 will receive a special reward - a voucher for a free pair of tickets to a concert at a Live Nation club or theater.

Section 7 also makes it easy for members to share the Daily Offers with friends through social media. Windows 7 Section 7 lets fans receive the Daily Offer however they choose, including a downloadable Windows gadget, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and email.  Registration is simple, fans just go to www.MySection7.com, enter your name, email, zip code, and password, and you're in!

Section 7 is just one example of how Microsoft is working with its partners to simplify the things consumers do most – in this case, learning about their favorite artists, live music opportunities, merchandise and exclusive offers. Together, the two companies will simplify the live music experience, bringing fans closer to the artists and content they want in one place.

I'm signed up. It says: "As one of the first to join this exclusive club, you have won a code for 2 free tickets to a participating Live Nation concert. Go to your email to get your free tickets - the code will be there!"

Me too. Got the same message as well, wonder how long it'll take before they reach 37,000 members. I don't go to too many concerts, but figured if I get tickets for free, or pretty darn cheap, I may end up going to a couple.

Could they not have come up with a better name? "Section 7" is a bit too close to "Section 9" for my liking.

Just a warning: the free tickets are currently for US concerts only. Oh and BTW: Jon Lajoie is NOT a concert for all ages: http://www.youtube.com/jonlajoie#p/u/0/zuVsLR_2GX0 (NSFK)

"Just a warning: the free tickets are currently for US concerts only." That's called a "feature".

"Just a warning: the free tickets are currently for US concerts only" Did you really expect anything different?

"That's called a "feature"." I call it a shame. Shame, not because it's wasted on the US, but because it's wasted on concerts that suck. Enjoy that exclusivity of sucky concerts though.

Sorry, Wae, not all of us swoon to the delightful sounds of such Canadians as Anne Murray and Celine Dion. http://www.town.springhill.ns.ca/Attractions.html
