New Windows Live Calendar (Beta) UI

I got an email from Andrew S. today tipping me off to a UI change over at the Windows Live Calendar Beta. It looks good and, I would imagine, provides a preview of the upcoming UI refresh over at Hotmail and the other Windows Live services that will soon be updated as part of the ongoing Wave 3 work. Here’s a shot...

Looking good.

I find it hard to update a calendar; I suppose this will change eventually when I get a mobile set up to alert me and whatnot... Paul, what tips do you have for making and keeping your calendar for scheduling?

so... I"ve been playing with this for much of the day. It's still pretty raw. You can import your entire Outlook or Google (or whatever) calendar with a single ICS file, and that works well. I've tried updating and adding items with both Outlook (and Outlook Connector) and WIndows Live Mail Beta. Both have lag issues. One of my new events from WLM *still* hasn't propagted out. The OL ones do, but they take a while. That said, the Web and WLM clients are quite nice looking. I like the Agenda view on the Web quite a bit. I'll keep testing. I need to see how well publish/subscribe work (if at all; Microsoft's "sharing" stuff is retardedly Live-specific I think).

I imported 8 to 9 yrs of appointments from an Outlook ICS file to Windows Live Calender. It seemed to take a while, then I got an error page, but I used the back button on the browser and everything was all there. It was beautiful. I used IE6 so I don't know if that was the issue, but it still worked any way. Google has a beta sync app with Outlook that also works very well and does a 2 way sync that you can choose the time interval. But I really like the Windows calendar better. The page is set up nicer and the whole scheme looks better, IMO. Best of all, everything is tied together with live services. It's like a Swiss Army knife. Can you imagine what it will be when finally finished and polished?

@Paul Try changing the sync time in Windows Live Mail, by default it is set to 30 minutes.

Love the Live calender app. It works fine for my needs. Live Photo Gallery needs to get raw format support to compete with Picasa or iphoto for that matter. I enjoy the interface and the speed it loads but raw support is a deal breaker for me until they get it.
