SuperSite Blog Daily Update: October 12, 2010

Good morning. I'm still in New York City, for a second day of Windows Phone-related events.

Some blogs were reporting that Microsoft would show off some kind of tablets at its Open House event here yesterday. That didn't happen, of course, and when we asked PR about this, they laughed, triggering a conversation about how even the most pointless rumors just pick up traction these days. I find it telling that there were no tablets at the event, however: Open House is where Microsoft shows off the holiday product lineup for consumers. Think 2011.

Microsoft announced the public beta release of Microsoft Enterprise Desktop Virtualization (MED-V) 2.0. Customers are invited to test MED-V 2.0 and can register for access to the beta and download it from Microsoft Connect. Some of the new features include no dedicated infrastructure required, streamlined sign-on to MED-V workspaces, more options for Internet Explorer redirection, USB device sharing, and My Documents, Desktop and network printer redirection.

As promised, Microsoft today released a MASSIVE set of security updates, with 16 bulletins addressing a total of 49 different vulnerabilities. Yikes. Fire up Windows Update if you're in the mood to reboot.

I'm heading home from NYC now...

So I'm sitting here on the train, dealing with sporadic Wi-Fi connectivity, my head full of thoughts around Windows Phone, and suddenly it occurs to me. Medal of Honor is out today. And is likely at home, waiting for me. This serves as notice about how I intend to spend the next several hours. :)

What events are they having today? Will there be any new announcements?

For some reason, the Win Phones pictures I saw made the phones look a little smaller than iPhone and Android devices. How do the dimensions and weights compare, Paul?

I hear that Medal of Honor is quite average compared to games like the Modern Warfare series
