Microsoft is renaming its Xbox Live Silver account type to Xbox Live Free, apparently in a bid to make it sound more pedestrian and get some people to upgrade to the real thing. In case you're wondering, I think Xbox Live should simply be free across the board, a perk for those who choose Microsoft's gaming solutions.

It might be silly for me to ask... but where did MS get the data on specific feature usage?

It's disappointing that jump lists aren't used more. But...people don't seem to find them. Maybe 1 week out of three at our local Saturday morning user group Q&A meeting, someone says "jump list" and someone else says "what's a jump list?" and jump lists are shown and explained (again). Low use of Aero Shake was expected (by me). (We show Aero Snap regularly, too...it doesn't seem to "take".) [The fact that I talk about a weekly user group meeting (there are several other regular meetings) probably tips you off that the average age of "local" here is higher than most places. In fact, the group still has a former World War II POW who attends regularly. At 71, I may now be above the group's average, but I'm not sure.]
