UK's The Sun Pokes Fun at iPhone

The UK's The Sun newspaper has what I assume is a commercial on You Tube, explaining why the paper-based newspaper is still vastly superior to reading content on an iPhone or other small device.

The Sun has been the UK's best handheld for 40 years. Top news, sports, photos, gossip and games in an easy-to-share format. No waiting for pages to load, no contract, no losing reception. There's no substitute for the Sun.

Check it out: It's a good (and accurate) message for the gadget-obsessed society we now live in.

Thanks to Dominic M. for the link.

Yep, I have a feeling that physical medians will never go away they may become niche but they will always be around, i mean look at the desktop market.

still thurrott I wonder how you square being a good little liberal reading the New York Times and the Times chopping 60,000 trees a week for their print editions. I guess the Sun can't have it both ways.... neither can thurrott.

"still thurrott I wonder how you square being a good little liberal reading the New York Times and the Times chopping 60,000 trees a week for their print editions. Either we are cutting down trees or we utilize energy, beyond the point that our digital devices waste plenty of resources and are toxic to the environment as well. Still, energy can come from cleaner sources, such as Nuclear, Hydro-electric, wind, and eventually solar. We don't have any dirty energy, as it were, here in eastern WA to my knowledge.

@clindhartsen: Wow! *nuclear* is a clean energy source? That's a new one. Oh, wait, by "clean" you mean rich countries paying poor countries to accept their nuclear waste! Sorry, my fault...

@gfryesc1 For every tree they cut down, they plant two more. We have more trees now than we did 100 years ago.

"Meanwhile, our digital devices waste much electricity and I'm sure many aren't recycled." Well, this message is composed of 100% recycled electrons.

Oh, look, a company that is in the process of being put out of business by newer and better technology wants to convince you to just stick with the old dead-trees news media. Apart from that, does anyone fail to see the deep irony that a newspaper is advertising on youtube? If anyone can point me to a youtube ad in a newspaper, I'll admit astonishment. Short of that, this ad on youtube is just sad.....
