Windows 7 factoid: Improved Resource Monitor

One of the coolest new features in Windows Vista is the Performance Monitor. In a similar vein, one of the coolest new features in Windows 7 is the revamped Resource Monitor. Here’s what it looks like:

Note the gray part of the bar. That’s how much RAM you lose by using a 32-bit version of Windows with 4 GB of RAM. Yes, really. (With x64, it’s a tiny sliver.)

Very cool. I wonder how much of it came out of the tools Microsoft got when they acquired the SysInternals/Winternals people.

Paul had already sold me on 64-bit for my to-be-bought-sometime personal use Vista machine. The grey part of the bar makes the choice even easier.

oldfogey From the same article: ------------------- The word factoid is now sometimes also used to mean a small piece of true but valueless or insignificant information, in contrast to the original definition. This has been popularized by the CNN Headline News TV channel, which, during the 1980s and 1990s, used to frequently include such a fact under the heading "factoid" during newscasts. In the United Kingdom, BBC Radio 2 presenter Steve Wright uses factoids extensively on his show ------------------- (I'll let you copy that to the other places you posted it.
