Windows Live Writer

I've been using Windows Live Writer to post the past several blog entries and ... yeah. Yeah, it's good. I would have begun using it long ago, but we had a mis-configuration in Community Server. The tech gods at Penton cleared that up this week and ... ta da! ... it works just fine.

This is important because we're going to be switching the wider SuperSite over to Community Server sometime this year and I had been concerned about using Community Server's Web-based tools to update the site. But now that I can use this tool, things are looking up. This is a great way to post information to the Web.

Anyway... If you do any blogging and haven't taken a look at Windows Live Writer, please do so. It's pretty incredible.

I'll go further -- I've tried pretty much all the clients I could find on Mac, Windows, and Linux, and WLW comes out on top. I especially like the in-line preview capabilities, and the fact that you can copy and paste videos. Who would have thought Microsoft's killer Live app would turn out to be WordPress? I hope the powers that be are paying attention.

I will also add that on top of it actually being a great useful tool - the community on MSN Groups (sadly its on there only and not a bit better organized) windowslivewriter@groups.msn.com but emails to them on the group actually get answered by MS techs associated with the Live Writer Group and they are actually listening to their community....

Agreed. WLW is a great app. Between WLW and the work being done on IronPython and the DLR, I'm being pulled back to my Vista partition on my Macbook.

Agreed. I used Wordpress on an old blog and Joomla on my new site, and though Joomla is great, I miss using Live Writer to post entries.
