Xbox 360 hardware on sale at NewEgg, Xbox Live at Wal-Mart

If Santa didn't bring you that Xbox 360 Elite bundle for Christmas like you wanted, well, good news: NewEgg has it on sale for just $299, and it includes a $50 gift card (final price $249).

But that's not all: They're also selling the white Xbox 360 wireless controller and black Xbox 360 wireless controller for just $29 each.

Related: Wal-Mart is selling 12 months of Xbox Live Gold for just $30.

Thanks very much to Corey S. for the tip.

And now you know why us PC gamers like new egg, because we can get other stuff like consoles sometimes for cheaper.

If the numbers are right, most of those who didn't get a X360 got a Wii.

My prediction....by the end of 2010 the 360 will be in last place in terms of total console sales. The PS3 gained major ground in 2009. The xbox 360 was down 6% from 2008 to 2009. The PS3 was up 24%. The gap is went from 8million to just under 5 million and the 360 has been out for a full year longer.

rr0de74@live.com, I own a PS3 but what does it matter because both companys have lost money on there consoles, it doesn't matter if lack of profits keep happening like this either one of two things will happen, We won't see a new console till 2015, or the next generation of consoles will be $1000, the only company that will be able to make consoles that will be cheap is nintendo, they got the formula right always have, don't try to keep up with PC gamers, just make a fun enjoyable console, that is where Xbox, Xbox 360 and PS3 failed they tried to be like a PC, going with big flashy graphics which are nice but seriously they were released out dated, one reason people leave hard core PC gaming is because the price of keeping up is tremendous, I mean I have a $400 dollar desktop that I built, bringing a 22" monitor over from the older computer, and I know in less that 2 years I will have to upgrade since I went with mid-range parts, which will game on high just like high-end problem is that it becomes dated a lot faster Low-end rarely is able to play latest games at highest, unable to play games in 4 years Mid-range Able to play game at the highest settings, in 4 years becomes pretty much the new low-end, 8 years total life as a gaming machine. High-end Able to play games at the highest setting while sleeping :P, 4 years becomes mid range, 4 more years becomes low end Possible life span 12 years as long as no major evolutions occur like, multi-core/these graphic cards/ a new form of graphics. Low-End less that $300 Mid-range $400 to $800 High-End $900 to $4,000 Workstation $4,000 and to infinity This is PC of course and home built price ranges.

@redunion1940 I dont know where to start. PC gaming sales are something like 1/17 of console gaming sales. CODMW2 just hit 1 Billion in sales the other day and less than 1/10th of that was from PC game sales. The PS3 was making about $100 right before the PS3 Slim came out. The PS3 has sold 31 million consoles. The Wii something like 55 million and the 360 35 million. The problem with the 360 is that Microsoft took a 1 BILLION dollar right off for the RROD issues. Prior to that the Xbox line was in the red, that pushed them into the DEEP RED. Add the e74 issues and the fact that 54% of them are defective and its a wonder people buy them. Backing HD-DVD was a huge mistake. MS also killed of the 1st Xbox, so they dont make any money from that. Looking at numbers like this... http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/14/december-npd-nintendo-ends-2009-on-a-h... December 2009 -Wii: 3.81M2.11M (+202%) -DS: 3.31M2.05M (+95%) -PS3: 1.36M650K (+92%) -360: 1.31M490K (+60%) -PSP: 655K361K (+123%) -PS2: 333K130K (+64%) Its easy to see how Sony is still making serious money off of THREE devices, and Nintendo off of TWO devices while MS falters with 1. Sony has got to be making a really good profit off of the PS2, selling on average 150k a month. Everyone I know that used to play PC games has moved to consoles a few years ago. There are few that play WOW but that is it. Paul is right PC gaming is basically dead for the most part. I cant imagine buying a desktop computer or a laptop powerful enough to play PC games because I like my notebooks in the 13-14inch range and I like long battery life. Building your own PC's is a total waste of time these days. If you really need a desktop for something like VMware or whatever you can pickup super cheap stuff from Dell that is loaded. Time is money and building a PC these days is not worth the time.

Paul, if you find a discount on Office 2010 [when it's released], please share and post it. Many of my cheapo partners need it. They will buy it on sale and I will set them up for Exchange, since I'm a nice guy. Thanks, Doc

@rr0de74@live.com Alright had MOW2 not been pirated 4.3 million times and those game had been bought then it would have been 1/5 of the revenue stream, PC gaming isn't dead but pirates are trying really really hard, Also Sony still hasn't made a profit from the PS3 they are still Billions in the hole on that console selling it at a $200 dollar lost when first released. As I will say there is still a very serious group of PC gamers out there its just most of us are cheap in buying PC games which I will never understand spend $1,500 on a PC but not on a $40 game, and it has been proven putting less anti-piracy techniques on a game will actually increase sales. Look up Galatic Civilization 2, as I will say I see that the most succesful game are the ones that forgo flashy graphics and get good gameplay or storyline. PC gaming isn't dead, because if it was dead then AMD and Nvidia would no longer be around.

Also as to proving sales that is kinda hard when sites won't post digital sales. But eh what ever.

The FAT PS3 was making money before the slim per console sold. http://www.embedded.com/underthehood/222001943 The SLIM is loosing $31 per console sold. Considering the Sony has not had a "RROD" 1 BILLION write off moment I am sure they are doing ok. Especially considering that they still sell about 150K PS2's per month and those way in the black. You are right AMD and NVIDIA are still around. Between the two they have sold 66million graphics cards to the 360/PS3. Almost the entire Apple Mac line is NVIDIA now, before that they were heavily ATI. That said I have 3 Mac's in my house 2 with NVIDIA and one with ATI, none of which could play a mildly demanding PC game as they are glorified notebook GPU's in iMac's. They work just fine not playing 3D games. The percentage of gamer class GPU's that both of those companies sell is probably 30% or less of their total sales. Still combined ATI and NVIDIA they are no match for Intel.... http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/2009/7/27/gpu-wars-amd-gains-market... Play any Crisis on a Intel GPU lately??? Those numbers only re-inforce the decline of PC gaming. PC gaming wont ever totally die. I see a small revival in flash gaming, which works well in even Intel GPU's. Its just been massively eclipsed by consoles and because of online gaming with consoles and the "PC" evolving into who knows (cloud + lower powered netbooks, tablets, smartphones) what its never going back to its glory days. When they finally bring a WOW or Star Trek online to consoles and its popular on that platform PC gaming will die at that point. Here are some good numbers for 2009, console numbers. The PS3 had a great year. Its best year yet and total sales for this year were better than any 360 year. The times are a changing. http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=6307&mp=1

Well yeah Intel has the GPU market share because every crap PC that ships with intel like netbooks, I'm talking about low end PCs ship with integrated graphics here which I thnk it holds about 80% of the integrated market. Now you get discrete graphics it goes Nvidia, AMD, the Matrox. Then you forget the workstation class graphics card which once again it goes Nvidia, AMD, and Matrox. Nvidia revenue stream from largest to least is probably this, Workstation cards, Discrete graphics, then integrated graphics. Also I will say again Sony lost a lot a lot of money when the released the PS3, they were losing over $200 per console it wasn't till right before they made the slim transition that the PS3 was making money, trust me the amount they have lost on the PS3 so far has eaten through there PS2 sales profit and what ever profit they earned on the PS3 before the slim transition. Also how many times does one have to tell people who own macs, you can't game on a mac, and yes those are mobile gpus, the 9400 Gsm is a low end mobile chip, the GXM 300 is a gaming mobile chip. and dude intel has always pretty much had the lead in graphics chips, even during the the voodoo days eh. Also without ATI the graphics producing part AMD might be dead right now, that is the only part making money for AMD right now, and I can gurantee you if everyone stopped buying Nvidia discrete(aka those extra cards) Nvidia would go under they wouldn't be able to make it. Honestly the PC gaming market is larger than you think, and could ever know, look at the Sims franchise over 150 or 200 million copies sold of course that includes all the expansions and the 2nd and 3rd release, only one game franchise beats that, and its the Mario franchise that is the only one to do that. Now I want you to grab a calculator 4.3 million times 60 dollars is how much $258,000,000 That is how much possible revenue was lost on piracy okay, I'll say it again what is killing PC gaming is not any transition to consoles I play em and like em but nothing beats PC, it is Piracy that is killing PC gaming and probably Xbox 360 gaming soon enough. Honestly any numbers on PC game sales is skewed as research groups do not track digital sales, just retail, I mean if PC gaming was so bad then why would Valve continue to release games on it and even spend time and money to develop a platform called steam to sell PC games, and even develop a game that is PC exlusive. Why did bioware finally relent and develop Mass effect for PC because there was a sizable market for it. If PC gaming is so bad how has AMD sold 2 million DX11 graphics cards so far, I know there integrated graphics for the MOBO isn't out yet so that is discrete graphics. http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/2010/1/7/amd-sold-two-million-directx11-gpus!.aspx I agree the PS3 had a great year and it did better than the 360, but as I said who cares if the major companys can't make an overall profit you are no understanding a small profit for half a year won't over come a massive loss for over 2 years. Also you'll find pricking PC gamers is a bit more fun than going after Mac fanatics, who can't game on there machine so eh. PC gaming isn't dead and I have a feeling it is actually going to start growing.

"PC gaming isn't dead, because if it was dead then AMD and Nvidia would no longer be around." It's the same reason why I say that cloud computing won't amount to much. AMD and Intel have vested interests in keeping cloud computing down, as do all computer component manufacturers. If cloud computing became suddenly prevalent, mainstream desktop component revenue would dry up. Component makers won't let that happen. BTW: I like my PS3. Waiting for Heavy Rain, which ships next month, and FF13 which ships the month after. Not sure when GOW3 ships, but certainly waiting for that too. I only played GOW 1 & 2 on the PS3 version and the demo for 3 was amazing.
