Zune.com

One of the weird complaints about the Zune back in 2006 was that Microsoft wasn't able to snag the zune.com domain name but had to instead settle on zune.net. (I seem to recall this generating some sniggering from the Apple faithful, actually.)

So while I'm not sure exactly when it happened, something has happened. If you visit Zune.com today ... it goes to the Zune Web site. As it should.

....and if you go to www.zune.ca, it forwards to www.zune.net/en-ca (the country code for English Canada). I've tried the site a few times in the past couple of months, and although the current site is the "tunnel" interactive flash page, it had previously linked to the page with the Zune 2.0 models (only) with information on each one. The funny thing is, all other country codes give a "404 not found" page, so one would assume that Canada will be getting the Zune sometime soon.

Most likely because it just takes time to transfer domains I been trying to do this and have been waiting six months. Microsoft probably did not have the time to snag zune.com before it's release so they had to settle with zune.net until they made arrangements for zune.com. Also I don't know how much they paid for zune.com but I am sure it was not 9.99 and the first year I don't think Microsoft was sure if it was even going to stick with the zune.

From whois: Created on..............: 30-Jan-08 Wonder if someone was stupid enough to let that domain expire. With the creation date being so soon it looks like someone didn't get a massive payday for the domain. Thats good, I hate domain squatters.
