Bill Gates on Windows 8, Windows Phone 8, and Microsoft Surface

People continue to be fascinated by Bill Gates for some reason, but I’ve always found the Microsoft co-founder to be a bit dry. In this short video, Gates discusses Windows 8, Windows Phone 8, and Microsoft Surface. But he sticks to the script.

Put simply, there’s just not much going on here. He does refer to Windows Phone 8, incorrectly, as Windows 8 Phone, which is amusing. And he hints at coming “camera” interfaces for Windows 8, which I take to mean Kinect. But it’s not clear that his insights here are any more or less relevant than anyone else’s. And as noted, he’s clearly on message, which isn’t really what anyone other than Microsoft PR wants.

Why doesn't MS just let the guy alone and let him finish eradicating polio and solving energy problems. Honestly it feels like he could really care less about what MS is doing these days, but as founder he's kinda obligated to show up and say something nice.(Heck, he was on campus to talk about charity work originally NOT Windows 8). Honestly, I feel like Ballmer had something to do with the creation of this video as Bill hasn't really said ANYTHING on his twitter feed about MS at all...at least not as far as I can tell. Normally when Bill spoke, tech folks everywhere listened. Not so sure that's the case these days.

Gates is on record saying that Windows 8 would have Kinect. And I seem to remember way back when early builds released that there were some Kinect dll's found.
