While others will review Microsoft’s new Surface with Windows RT tablet and then move on to the next gadget of the week, I do things a bit differently. And while today’s post focuses on first impressions of the new Surface and provides the obligatory photo gallery, this is only the beginning of a lengthy series of tips and other articles aimed at helping you make the transition from a Windows PC to a Surface with Windows RT.

Microsoft didn’t just launch Windows 8 this week. It also launched its new Surface line of tablet devices. Here’s a photo gallery from the Surface reception in New York.

Microsoft delivers a nice selection of photos of the new Surface with Windows RT devices and Touch and Type covers, giving potential buyers a closer look at the future of the PC.

Earlier this month, I reviewed a number of new mobile mice and keyboards that Microsoft is releasing for Windows 8 as well as some pre-existing models are that being updated with new Windows 8 functionality. Since then, Microsoft has announced its first desktop keyboard designed for Windows 8 (and RT), the Sculpt Comfort Keyboard. And as you might expect, it includes built-in Windows 8 functionality that goes a bit beyond the mobile hardware.
