Amazon Book: Amazon Cloud Player for Web 0.2

The first draft of a chapter from a possible book about Amazon consumer cloud services

While I’ve decided to focus on Windows Phone 8 for a full-length book and Xbox Music for a new mini-book, I figured I should at least finish what I started with the Amazon Cloud Player for Web chapter/mini-book. Here’s the first draft.

You may recall that I mentioned thinking about a potential book about Amazon consumer services last week in Amazon Book: Amazon Cloud Player for Web 0.1 and provided an incomplete version of the first draft of a potential chapter. I’ve since decided that a mini-book about Xbox Music would be a better choice—see The Next Mini-Book: Xbox Music for details—because it’s such a complex and set of services.

But here’s a complete but first draft version of the Amazon Cloud Player for Web chapter/mini-book. It’s about 22 pages long, and I may use it as a publishing experiment to see how the Amazon Kindle stuff works. I’ll give it away for free of course.

Thanks! More Xbox Music content soon.

Great article! It would be nice if you added information on how an Amazon music library can be accessed on a Windows Phone... I assume the cloud player works fine, but it would be nice to know if there are any other options for combining the Amazon ecosystem with my favorite phone.

I just started using Amazon Cloud Player and recalled you seem to be a big user and fan of it. I've been searching for an answer to a quick question: after you've done an import of your music, is there an easy way to differentiate what's been matched vs. what's been uploaded vs. what's been ignored.

I found that in my initial attempt I only got about half of my files because my AAC-based collection had the wrong file extension. But now everything ends with either MP3 or M4A and I've still only got about 80% imported.

I really want to stick with Amazon here, but I've how this is displayed in iTunes and iCloud match and wondering if I'm just missing something.
