Flickr Search Connectr for Windows 7 Search Federation

Long Zheng offers a bit of Windows 7 goodness to the community:

I’m announcing the availability of “Flickr Search Connectr” for Windows 7. If you have a copy of Windows 7 and the tubes aren’t blocked, I encourage you to try it for yourself.

So what is this voodoo you might be asking? Well this is actually a combination of two components, both carefully put together in a couple of hours by amateur programmer yours truly. The first is a OpenSearch Description File generator (also known as the “Search Connector” in Windows 7) and the second is a Flickr web service. Combined, they allow you to search and access images on Flickr right in the Windows 7 Explorer using the new “Search Federation” platform.

Nice! (Plus, kudos for “Connectr”. :)

Holy cow, Paul. I wish I did stuff like this in my free time instead of watching Monty Python clips on YouTube.

"Vista is a pig" - how true. http://computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&arti... The latest from the case against Microsoft lies about being "Vista Ready"

@robertsjoe: While I agree that Paul is underreporting the story you reference (God knows he'd be all over it if it were a Microsoft competitor), it has no place in this thread. You're getting as bad as Waethorn with his constant OT posts, or the good doctor with his $400 laptop. Please. Stop.

The last few references to the laptop were legit, but I will refrain form the gratuitous reference. I was just proud of myself for making a good choice [luck] at such an inexpensive piece of hardware and how ell the darn thing works. And, I figured a few good chuckles could help the site. But if it's annoying, then I'll stop. However, I really would like to try Windows 7 on the second partition, so if anyone knows where to sign for a public beta, I am willing and eager. It helps the other docs in the group when I test software. Still I wonder how they screw things up so easily, on both platforms. Peace, The Doctor

BTW, this belonged on the prev post, but shares a lot about what each side was saying. http://blogs.eweek.com/applewatch/content/security/what_market_share_wil... I found it surfing on my $400 Vista laptop:)

shark Yes. The big targets lately have been computers in China being used as zombies by the Russian mobs for DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks against US and European targets. It's a brave new world...

Of course, a reasonable attack could also be targeting Macs as zombies since with so little penetration of anti-malware most of them could run in a zombie army for years without their owners even knowing they were pwned.

The Zune brand is the new Vista. Another dud brand. "In other words, Microsoft is playing catch-up, and it's unlikely to catch up." http://news.cnet.com/8301-13505_3-10102195-16.html?part=rss&tag=feed&sub...

Microsoft's "I'm a dork" stores. http://news.cnet.com/8301-13505_3-10101303-16.html?part=rss&tag=feed&sub... That's a funny name. "I'm a PC" will now become "I'm a dork". Done.

There are many ads on the SciFi channel. There was a good Vista ad last night. Two nights ago, a nice Dell ad was followed by an iPhone ad. The agencies seem to know where the geeks hang out. So, it's Windows birthday and everyone gets presents. MS is in the giving spirit and seems to be staying there. I see this on the iPhone, but don't experience it with Leopard. or at least personally. MS marketing has shifted out of neutral].

Heh. And a big congrats to MikeGalos for being the first person to bring up Apple in a non Apple thread. Again. I mean, really. robertsjoe didn't even mention them in his OT post way up there.

Sorry, it wasn't mike. It was the good doc that linked to the post. In any case, robertsjoe had hijacked the thread long before that.

Give me a break, RunTimeError! Robertsjoe dose-dived this thread within the first 6 posts, and then trolled it with more BS, and the only thing you are concerned about is MikeGalos mentioning Apple? As if mentioning that company is heresy, but completely wrecking thread after thread, by some guy that does it all in the name of pimping Apple, isnt?

Yep RunTime, it was I, but I posted from my Mac Pro Tower as I was installing OneCare on my $400 Vista laptop:) Gotcha with another legit laptop reference!
