Ginormous 'Blue Screen of Death' Hits Las Vegas

The Raw Feed:

The Paris Hotel marqui in Las Vegas suffered a spectacular "Écran Bleu De la Mort" recently, according to pictures snapped by a vacationer. Photos show they finally got the system booted by morning, but that WASN'T VERY PRETTY EITHER.

Uh-huh. Let me tell you what I take away from this: Based on the photos, the Paris Hotel is clearly still using Windows 2000, and not a modern Windows version, so maybe they got what they deserved. Something tells me a still-supported version of Windows might have handled things a little better.

Just a thought.

As someone who has to get approval by Harrah's to get IT approval, I can tell you its not easy. It is so painful to get anything done as they pinch every single little penny. I am not surprised at all that they are running 2k on that computer. FYI: Paris is owned by Harrah's Entertainment.

I'm not surprised either, I guess. But the problem with this kind of thing is that people see blue screens on screens around the world and the takeaway is that Windows is buggy, not that old versions of WIndows are buggy and, oh, by the way, WIndows runs everything and these screens aren't actually all that common compared to how many run fine every single day.

Being a photoshop expert (IMHO) I'd say that looks fake! If you seriously look at the color/lighting I get this vague feeling of deja-vu...... then I realize that it's the feeling I get when I don't have my photoshoped picture perfect... but almost! Kind of when you watch a blue-screen (no pun intended) scene in a movie and it looks almost right, but not completely...

Of course a more modern version of Windows would be different. http://www.thehumorarchives.com/joke/Windows_Vista_BSOD

@drylight: I recall Leopard got BSOD as well isn't it? Anyway, being different means it is getting extremely unlikely to have BSOD in modern windows. If you really want BSOD for a purpose, i'm sure you'll get it.

The BSOD's that I had were not due to Windows, but were due to my CPU overheating in a desk cubby with poor ventilation. The stock heatsink/fan supplied by Intel for my P4 Prescott was not good enough for the job. It was Intel's fault. I bought a big Thermaltake Silent Tower and all was well. I'm due for an upgrade, though.
