Heroes Happen Here: Photos from the launch event

Can someone comment on what software is given away for free when attending the event? I.e. What edition of Visual Studio 2008 is provided? Standard or Professional? Thanks

gavers. You're reaching. Obviously. The heroes theme is about the people behind the scenes who make technology work: IT pros, admins, programmers. It's about people, not silly idealogical issues.

Actually, the hero title is even more true for hospitals, especially now since we are all destined to become totally digital. We need it all set up first, so that docs, nurses and clerk can use computers for digital order entry and create documents of history and physicals so that each person can read it from anywhere to help the patient. digital reports are generated and kept safe and archived. We need IT Pros to do it. Technology must be accessed from anywhere, so that diagnostic imaging exams as well as laboratory studies are available at any time, from anywhere, then are archived and protected from those who show not have the records. It's all going to be all digital soon. My office is, and we can share with any doctor or healthcare system that needs to know results of your exams, or compare them to their own. We rely on these people so much, and the job is so important, that they are certainly heroes, keeping it running, safe and secure. I certainly appreciate them.

This was the trial hero’s event. No “WOW”s during demo, couple hiccups while showing “working” samples and nothing new that is not already implemented by other vendors. I've attended it in Nashville. No reserved parking spaces, itty-bitty snack box and.... it was even not enough original boxes for everybody, they had to provide some extra from other vendor. It seems like Microsoft does not know how to count number of registered guests using calculators…. And about "free" software... well it is all TRIAL except VS Standard edition – but I didn’t try to install studio yet. I am extremely disappointed; this was total waist of time and money.
