From the launch

It's been a long day at the launch event; sorry for the silence in here today. Overall, it was a decent event, if a bit long. I basically had meetings all afternoon, but most of them were very interesting and, of course, fodder for future articles, which is always good.

I took a few photos but it might be a while before the non-iPhone pictures are uploaded: You'll laugh, but I forgot my camera's sync cable and, ta da, as previously noted the Macbook doesn't have any media card slot. It's been a while since I've had to worry about that.

I've run into a lot of old friends and acquaintances already, and I'm sure there will be more at this evening's party: Bob Stein from Activewin. Steve Bink from bink.nu. ZDNet's George Ou. Alex Pournelle. And of course Karen and Mike from Penton.

Anyway. I'll have more later. I need to post something and then it's off to dinner and then the launch party.

A few random pictures, all from very early this morning (pre-launch):

Sunrise from the hotel.

Magic Johnson statue in front of the Staples Center.

I mentioned how insanely nice the weather is here, right? Good.

"You'll laugh, but I forgot my camera's sync cable and, ta da, as previously noted the Macbook doesn't have any media card slot." So what's your point? A /lot/ of other laptops also don't have a media card slot. Why not point out the fact that you bought a laptop, knowing full well it doesn't have a card slot, yet you're now wishing it did. That is such a superfluous comment on your part. As are many of the posts on this blog, may I point out. You're really striving hard to align anything in your world, you're daily happenings, to anything related to Apple to take a shot. Just look at the laughable "tie-in" you made in your recent "Apple Fanatics" post. Wouldn't expect anything less from a Microsoft fanboy site like the SuperSite for Windows.

Drylight: Please, please give it a rest. I use both Windows and OSX. To me, Paul is just mentioning he forgot a cable for his camera and the computer he brought doesn't have a media card reader slot. That's all he's saying. You really need to stop drinking Steve's kool aide.

You obviously don't read or listen to enough of Paul's stuff by making such a statement. I appreciate the fact that Paul is willing to try both products and give honest opinions about them. Maybe you missed the fact that the Microsoft "Fanboy" is at a Microsoft launch event, with a MACBOOK! And I'm not sure what kind of a slant you expect from the WINsupersite...I don't go to a Steakhouse looking for a Tofu burger...

@drylight: it's really sad that Paul can't even write a simple blog post without a Macwarrior jumping on and bagging him out for mentioning Apple.

Lol drylight is right. I have no doubt that Paul would NOT mention the same thing if he had a Windows notebook with him that did not have a card reader. Its an attempt to prove his point he made before when digging on Apple. Here is a thought, email the photos to your self from the iPhone and then go to your webmail and grab the photos if you want them that bad. Rocket Science. If the email thing is to complicated, you could probably find a cheap cable in LA?

You can find a cheap cable, but you will spend more on the taxi than for something that you only need temporily. You should try to borrow a cable, Paul. There has got to be an acqaintence there with one, hopefully. Also, don't forget to have a good time, dude!

Lindy - Paul said he didn't have his non-iPhone photos available. Also, if you want to get technical "if he had a Windows notebook with him" - the Macbook is a Windows machine ;)
