Live Mesh is in beta … with Mac and Windows Mobile support

I tried installing Live Mesh on my Blackjack 2 earlier this week and keep getting told that there's not any more slots available in the beta for me. Good luck. :)

Once again, Microsoft has proven that it is better at doing Mac OS X than Apple is at doing Windows. Live Mesh flawless so far on my MacBook (installed several days ago). Haven't put it on primary machine yet. Intel-only will be a decreasing problem over time, ricronin. Meanwhile, you can log in via the web, upload and download files, etc.

Josh_Miller Currently Live Mesh for mobile devices is provided only on a limited basis in the US and UK according to the Live Mesh blog at http://blogs.msdn.com/livemesh/default.aspx. Are you somewhere else?

I tried Live Mesh earlier but at that time, it did not support OS X. I have since switched to DropBox and now my bookmarks, passwords, etc... are the same on every computer and virtual computer I own from Linux to OSX to Windows. What would make me switch to Mesh from DropBox?

@will5 - For simply syncing files, there might not be a great argument for Live Mesh. However, as the development of Live Mesh progresses, I see more compelling arguments. We'll see. If you can do what you want with other technologies, then great. It's really a matter of evaluating what is best for you.

Took me a while to figure out as to why I couldn't get it to work on my PDA ( I later found out that my region settings on Windows Live was set to Puerto Rico ), but now it's working great! It's not the most flashy program for WinMobile, but it has already replaced ActiveSync for me, and I love not having to go into a browser to use Mesh.

OT: Every time I try to comment on a post, my comment isn't posted and it appears the thread is locked. This has happened to me about 4 times now. It's really annoying.

It works great on my Mac. Cant get to it from work so that pretty much kills 90% of its use for me. Umm Apple does not offer anything like mesh. The closeset thing they have is iDisk, which is old technology, webdav/webshare stuff. Which IMO does not work great on any platform. Mesh is NOT webdav/webshare, nor is dropbox. I read this week that ATT is testing monthly caps in the Reno area, 150gig for the top tier customers. All of the broadband companies are loving mesh, Xbox Live, PSN, Dropbox, MobileMe, Netflix online, Apple TV, Hulu, etc. Throw it all into the cloud, get charged for it, hope the source stays up and pray its secure. Good times.
