Whats with there being only one key available?

It appears that Microsoft has a number of different builds, each with it's own set of license keys... Previously, Office 2007 Prof. Plus could be downloaded earlier from TechNet and be used with KMS/MAK keys from the EA/SA licensing sites. Not with 2010... I had to use TechNet keys with my TechNet builds.

@Meason - "freaking ribbons"

You know I didn't like it at first, but once I learned you could just double click on the tab and it went away I loved it.  To me, it's better than a toolbar because you can easily hide it when you don't need it, and pull it up when you do.  All it is, really, is a hide-a-way toolbar.

It was up this morning on the West Coast, not sure if that's relevant but sometimes it seems they have a rolling release with some programs.

@Dr. Daniel

I see Ed Bott is saying more licenses will be available on April 30th.

After you get used to the ribbon, you really can't live without it.

It's nice to see the ribbon picked up in some of the other apps in Windows 7.

Can't upgrade from Beta :( Not supported..

So now I'm backing up my Outlook data (just in case) before I do the uninstall of beta, and.. than I'll have to go for a meeting probably so won't have final Office 2010 until later in the day. Doooh!!!

Anyway, point of this post shoud have been - heads up! You'll need to uninstall your old Office apps before installing new ones.

@luxZg your Outlook data is either on an Exchange server or in a .PST file locally if you dont use Exchange, neither of which would be touched if you do a un-install of Office.

It could remove your Outlook profile, rules, settings etc.

@jecouch66

Oh I know,  I mainly use Excel and Word for development using the object model to build reports etc.....  I hate it because many times I may create a macro to see VBA to do what I need to do and the ribbons for developers just stink.

@LuxZg

You can uninstall the beta and then just wack the RTM on and it preserves everything, even the account details - even rules.  Don't bother backing up, if you must, then just copy the .PST to another location.

I was surprised how easy it was, i was expecting to be putting in 10 different accounts again with passwords, etc, but it found it all... (Win7 even kept the Jump List info for the task bar icons - nice!)

Hotmail Connector seems to work much better now too...

When you try to install Office 2010 RTM on a system with the Beta installed, it will tell you to uninstall the Beta (as many have noted). It's interesting to me what Office preserves across installs. For example, your PST file will still be there, as will your email accounts in Outlook. In Word, it retains the customized Style changes I've made, but not the auto-correct configurations. It's sort of hit or miss. I guess the way I'd put it is that the most important stuff (PST) is retained. But much in the way of settings/configurations is not. I assume this is true across Office versions as well. I'd like to see this improved dramatically in the future.

Paul: "I'd like to see this improved dramatically in the future."

i'd like to see the ability to back all of this up in the future - so when you do a clean install of Windows on a machine you can just restore all this stuff straight away.  Installing/Configuring office is probably the slowest part of a full system rebuild for me, due to all the configuring, accounts setups, rules etc...
