SuperSite Blog Daily Update: December 12, 2010

Good morning.

I've spent the past day and a half doing what I suspect many of you spend far too much time on as well, resetting and reinstalling PCs, both for myself and for friends. (There has got to be a better way.) My home office has been like the Frankenstein's workshop of PCs, with open tower and desktop PCs everywhere, and laptops in various stages of reinstalling. Additionally, I've got other semi-related projects going on, including my ongoing tests of various set-top boxes, some VHS-to-digital/DVD conversions for a friend, a 2011 family calendar, and so on. You gotta love the holidays. Plus, it's not like the normal workload takes a break.

If you're looking to make a difference this holiday season, consider visiting the Let's Say Thanks web site, which was set up by Xerox, and send a free, printed postcard to someone in the US military that's currently stationed overseas. Thanks to David S. for the link.

I had heard from a reader about this, but was a bit preoccupied and forgot to blog about this: Verizon is going to shut down most services For Kin phones, in late January. We knew this was coming, of course, but it's still kind of sad to see one of the Kin's biggest advantages just disappear so quickly.

Is it just me or did all the site updates/revisions turn off comments on the wininfo site? This isn't the proper place, but I wanted to comment that the 3 part piece on Chrome is some of the best analysis you've done in years.
