Let's keep it on topic. Obviously.

I've got like a half hour left on the DL, know if it's worth upgrading from RC?
pthurrott

No, not yet. Still grabbing it.

installing...

I think they should use this as the welcome screen background, minus the logo (of course). The RC welcome screen has too many waves and activity going on, this is subtle and provides the right balance.

So Paul, you said the last build would be the last "Pre RTM" build, so does that mean the this build(7232) will be RTM?

I think this is the first one I have NOT liked...

@Ocean...what the build or the wallpaper? --tayme

Anyone have any idea who had the idea to make the logo more like this anyways?

Can you say what's new or changed instead of just specifiying the build number?

Not too shabby, but definitely more consumer friendly than business friendly. Thankfully the login screen can be customized easily enough through the OEM process and a number of quick/easy third-party tools.

Microsoft seems a bit too infatuated with their flag logo, in my opinion. Still looking at this build, and Rafael has some interesting info coming about Starter edition. Sadly, it only adds to the questions. More soon.

Build 7260 has already leaked and reflects: 6.1.7260.0.win7_rtm.090612-2110 Looks like 7300 will be the final RTM build and unless it fails in testing, it will be ready to go on the 19th. If you're interested in 7260/7300, you already know where to look.

For some reason, it reminds me of the old MSN logo.

Andreas Which old MSN logo? This http://galos.net/Brandy/images/History/msn1_04.jpg is the original one. (well, the first public one, at least)

@mike: ....well, it does have a butterfly on it.

The Windows 7 Logo: It's better with the butterfly.(TM)

Love the wallpaper, even with the Windows logo (though a smaller flag might be better), but the color might be too blue, and the black-ish background in fonts is now a solid mess. A nice green would be nice.

@techfan - Ha!!! You love it, except for everything...right! ;-) <--Wink, wink; nudge, nudge; say no more! --tayme

It'll be interesting to hear more. I wonder if Microsoft will have any surprises in the final build of 7. Paul, are those UI skin rumors you talked about still going around or did they die out?

I think I'll stick with my good buddy Bob the Betta when final release comes out.

All I can say is... I'm going to vacation in about 2 weeks, and when I get back, I better be able to install a RTM version ;) Oh, and you can bet I'll first save that Betta fish wallpaper, it just looks much nicer than this new one.. :P
techfan
on Jun 16, 2009
@tayme: LOL Well, it's a nice wallpaper, in terms of being a nice picture, but it's not the type I would use because of said "dislikes".

Funny... can't get a copy of the leaked 7260. Is Microsoft really sticking to this flag?... May be MS is ready to dominate the world.... wait... they already do. Now the flag makes sense. Anyone know why the Little Robot game and Hold'em is not included in all the beats and the RCs? Kinda miss them.
JorgeAntonopoulos
on Jun 16, 2009
@darkmax well.. if you really can't live without those two games, you can always install a virtual windows vista ultimate with windows virtual pc and use it as if it were installed on 7.. but yeah.. they should've let it on this version of windows...

someday that will be our national flag... anyways, i don't think the RTM will be available til the 21st, I have a TechNet subscription and they will be having "Scheduled Maintenance" from "Duration (GMT-8): Friday, June 19, 2009 7:00:00 PM To (GMT-8): Sunday, June 21, 2009 4:00:00 PM" and the impact will be "Subscribers will not be able to access benefits" [of downloads]... I figure they'll be upgrading servers and such over the weekend to prepare for the massive load they'll get when the RTM is released lol
