Windows Vista SP1 heads to automatic updates

I received a note from Microsoft today regarding the automatic distribution of Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1):

Microsoft will begin automatic distribution of SP1.

This means that users with the Automatic Update feature turned on will automatically download SP1 to their PCs. While Microsoft is beginning automatic distribution today, it’s important to note that customers might not see the update download right away since Microsoft is distributing the Service Pack in phases to ensure a seamless download experience.

Today’s Windows Vista SP1 news is also featured on Microsoft PressPass.

Automatic updaters: be sure to save your files frequently in case the installation automatically closes apps down without asking like the manual installation did.
