They're doing a remake of Wolfenstein: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/37742.html?type=flv Lots of gore, monsters, action, explosions....You know - the whole reason for playing one of these games.... If that's not your thing, try this game instead: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/45526.html?type=flv

BTW: They've had all the Doom-style games released in different formats on Windows Mobile for years now. Most of the game engines are free - you just had to supply the map files.

Ummm, can't find it on the app store (web or phone) and the source code link is either busy or broken. Double fail :(

Nice. Now if they'd only get some anime in the iTunes store. That might improve my opinion of Apple.

Thought you'd said good-bye to the iPhone. Make up your mind.

Thanks for the head's up, Paul. Awesome.

If someone has screenshots of the iPhone version and the Windows Mobile version, I'd sure like to see them. Unless there's some significant difference, then this seems to be all part of the iPhone iHype.

"There's probably more, but 3 should be enough" You're talking about models of WinMobile, right? ;-)

Thanks Waethorn. Doesn't seem that this iPhone news is that special then.

"You're talking about models of WinMobile, right?" No, I was talking about Apple's stance on the availability of OS X applications. .... There's 2 actually. But of course, your ignorance of a subject would never stand in the way of a snide remark.

@chip: I'd like to see a good Duke Nukem 3D port. I always used to use mouse-look in it even though it's one of those pseudo-3D games (you can't have one floor on top of another, but you could teleport to simulate the effect). It'd make me happy if someone integrated Bluetooth keyboard and mouse support into a Windows Mobile port of the game. :) Pocket Quake has been out for Windows Mobile for a long time too. There are even Windows Mobile ports of Warcraft, Warcraft II, C&C, Starcraft, and many other RTS games.

At first, I did not feel that I fit in with this crowd. Now, it seems that we have much more in common. I may just be a jock, but I'm certainly a DOOM grand master. Yes Wae, I paid twice as much to play DOOM on a Mac. And Apple wonders we we jailbreak our iPhone! I'm game. Pun intended.

"Thought you'd said good-bye to the iPhone." You keep saying this. Provide a link to where Paul said this, since I don't remember it.

DipshtAdmin, A few weeks ago Paul had an update on the main page entitled something like "Saying goodbye to the iPhone" (something to that effect, I don't remember the exact title). Conveniently, it's not there anymore, and when I go look at the older posts in the RSS, it only goes back to sometime in Jan 2009.

@panache1023, I simply looked in the mobile section of the Supersite and found the article you were looking for. http://www.winsupersite.com/alt/iphone_goodbye.asp This is what Paul actually said. "I will still keep an iPhone/iPod touch around for the apps, PIM sync, and for future testing. But I need a Windows Mobile phone, also for testing. And a cell phone, whatever that may be, for occasional phone calls while traveling. Staying with AT&T may have some financial benefit, but God I hate their network and would love to get back to Verizon." He could get an iPod Touch and still test all the games and apps. Its very essential on a Windows site to cover iPhone and App Store. Millions of Windows users own iPhones and use them with Windows XP, Vista, and most likely on Windows 7. Perhaps he's waiting for the upgrade period to get a different phone?

I never saw the article when it came out. So boy, he hasn't gotten rid of it yet, and he does intend to keep it. Given that he does this stuff for a living, he basically says that he needs to cover both worlds, the iPhone world and the WinMo world. Since he doesn't have unlimited funds, he needs to make a decision so that he can cover both markets well enough for the SuperSite for Windows. "Conveniently, it's not there anymore" No conspiracy here, as it took me 10 seconds of research, literally, after I realized that sub already did it for me.

It is difficult to follow Paul's "truthiness" sometimes. Around the same time, he wrote a blog entry highlighting Apple's rejection of Opera's browser for the iPhone. Apple's behavior, according to Paul, was so cringe-worthy that it made him feel like he had to take a shower. Paul never followed-up with the truth, that Opera was never rejected because they had never submitted Opera to Apple for consideration. So the "iPhone/no iPhone" quandary isn't too unusual.
