Microsoft Provides Free Office 2013 Quick Start Guides

Nine free Quick Start Guides in PDF format

Confused by the new features and interfaces in Office 2013? Well, this series of helpful Quick Start Guides from Microsoft should help. There are nine in all, and they step you through transitioning from an older Office versions to the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher, Access, Project, and Visio.

“Whether you're coming from a previous version of Office and just want to see what's changed, or you're entirely new to Office and want a quick overview of how to get to the most important things, each guide provides helpful information that we've based directly on feedback from customers just like you,” the Office team writes in a post to Office Blogs.

The guides are available individually, which makes for a bit of a tedious download session if you want all of them. But here are direct links to each download, in PDF format, which makes it only somewhat easier:

Even as a lifelong Office user I think these are pretty cool. Question is why hasn't MS done the same thing for Windows 8?

Paul, first these are great, so a hugh thanks.

Second, you stated in a recent post that Outlook no longer uses the .pst file. My primary e-mail account is hotmail (MSN), so it appears that adding "your" account is as it has been. Can you still add addtional accounts as in 2010? My e-mail accounts associated with my website provider, my internet provider, etc.?

Third, and perhaps most important, what happens to the multitude of folders/subfolders and years of e-mails sent and received? Do you have to recreate the folder/subfolder system and copy e-mails from 2010 into 2013? Can you even open Outlook 2010 beside Outlook 2013to do this.

Good idea! Probably should have done this for Windows 8 too!

Well done, Microsoft, although it has only been the odd thing that has stumped me. Closing headers and footers is a bit convoluted, for instance.
