What I Use

I get a lot of questions about the hardware and software I use on a daily basis. Check out the What I Use page for more information.

Friendfeed

An aggregation of all of my work online: This is the full meal deal.

Email: thurrott at windowsitpro dot com

As a last resort, email me. Note, however, that I cannot respond to all emails, sorry.

I'm Paul Thurrott, the guy behind this Web site. I create all the content here, including the graphics and site design.

Contacting me

Because of the volume of email I receive--well over 100 non-spam email messages a day--I can no longer answer every email I receive, sorry.

If you're interested in contacting me, I prefer Twitter to email. But if you must email me, here are a few simple guidelines that might help:

Only ask questions to which I already know the answer. Just kidding.

Google is your friend. More often than not, questions I receive can be answered via a simple Google search.

Please don't ask me about specific hardware or software configurations. I'm not familiar with the Ricoh XYZ123 and no, I don't know why it doesn't work with Windows XP.

On the other hand, overly vague questions are unanswerable. Examples: Why can't I reinstall Windows? and How come I can't get email?

Respect email etiquette. Don't ask a question in the subject line or leave the subject line blank. My spam filter tends to trap these types of messages.

I'm only human. Remember that I can no longer answer every email that I receive. In the past, I had asked readers to resend unanswered questions, but this simply led to people resending the same questions repeatedly, often as much as once an hour. Because of the volume of email I now receive, it's not possible for me to answer all of my email personally. I'm considering starting up a Q & A page, however, for the most common questions, or perhaps adding that as a regular feature of the blog.

Make sure you're using the right email address. Please use thurrott at windowsitpro dot com for all non-personal email.

And thanks for reading, seriously. The content of this site is literally dictated by what readers want. So do drop me a line via Twitter or Email and let me know what you're interested in reading about.

What I Use
