Picks and tips

Tip of the week: Sign In to Windows 8 with a Microsoft account

In Windows 8, Microsoft added the ability (finally) to sign-in to the OS with your online account instead of using a traditional local account. Do so, as it opens up a slew of integration features that will put Windows 8 over the top.

Software pick of the week: Windows Phone SDK 7.1.1

The latest version of the Windows Phone developer tools is now available, adding support for Windows Phone "Tango" devices and Windows 8. This is, by far, the best mobile development software available anywhere.

Enterprise pick of the week: Team Foundation Service

The Azure-based version of Team Foundation Server is still in preview only. But MS is continuing to add more features to it, the latest being a build service.

Codename pick of the week: Antares

Microsoft's plan to move its Web-app hosting platform to Azure.
