Long Zheng is reporting that Microsoft added 8 sessions for something called Windows Strata to their public PDC 2008 sessions list. Interesting. But I don’t see it there now, suggesting that Microsoft inadvertently let the cat out of the bag: Is Windows Strata the name of Microsoft’s upcoming cloud-based Windows platform?

Could be. It’s a good name, despite Long’s incorrect attempts at defining it. Strata means “layer” not “cloud,” and that’s a good name for a platform or an API certainly. It also sounds like more of a codename than a product name, for whatever that’s worth.
