Now Available: Skype 3 for Android

Skype 3 targets popular Android tablets for the first time

A new version of Skype is available for Android, adding explicit support for popular tablets like the Google Nexus 7 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, among others. It also sports a new look and feel and audio quality improvements.

“With our redesigned look and feel, Skype looks great no matter what screen size you have - either on a smaller Android phone or the more spacious display of your tablet,” Skype’s Derek Snyder writes in the Skype Big Blog. “This latest version is optimized to scale to your tablet's bigger screen, so you can experience Skype on a larger display wherever you go.”

According to Skype, Skype 3 for Android includes the following new features:

- Redesigned look and feel.

- Audio quality improvements with support for Skype’s SILK wideband audio codec

- Tablet support: It fully supports the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, Google Nexus 7, Acer Iconia, Asus Transformer Prime, Motorola Xoom and Sony S.

I suppose they have to make a version for Android to keep the users happy but I having a feeling it will work best on a Win 8 Device.

Doesn't really work better, especially on the Nexus 7 which use to work fine in portrait mode and now defaults to landscape. Would not be an issue except the Nexus 7 defaults all other apps to portrait.
Voice quality seems the same.
