In another meeting, Steve Balmer threw a chair at what turned out to be his own shadow.

The WindowsTablet PC just wasn't sexy enough to achieve mainstream recognition. And seriously, were you really going to spend all that money trying to impress everyone with "OneNote"?

@roteague I guess I'm equally amazed at how willfully ignorant apologists like yourself choose to be whenever you're reminded of Microsoft's true colors. Did you even look into the connection...

Microsoft has been stealing code for years. They're unimaginative marketeers who chiefly sell profiteering junk. Dig deep and you'll find out the REAL reason they gave Apple $150 mil (hint: Quicktime...

Looks pretty lame. What are there, less than 400 apps total? Most are shite and are even listed twice (Monopoly, SIMS...). Pathetic attempt at playing catchup. Hey Microsoft, why not spend your time...

MS has been aping the Mac OS ever since Windows. Non-debatable.

Uh, shouldn't these guidelines be included with the product? Is Windows still so unnecessarily complicated that we have to rely on a blog for insight? If then, this... if then that... Ugh, what a...

Great. Now how about opening up that useless 2GB limit in exmerge.

Windows 7 set a record all right... zero to registry hack in under 24 hours!
Saturday, October 24, 2009 - 12:58am
So, by Paul's own admission, a Windows 7 installation experience includes "a messy 24 hours" ,"being up all night" --and a registry hack. Heh, heh, what was that song? Oh yeah, "It's the final...

And the new Apple ad ("Broken Promises") is now spot on! Like shooting fish in a barrel.
Thursday, October 22, 2009 - 11:01am
Boil all these numbers down to one fact: Microsoft desperately needed to wash the bad taste of Vista out of everyone's mouth. We've never seen so much hype over what amounts to a damage control...

Windows Mobile 6.5 will do nothing to increase WinMo's market share against today's competition. It's that terrible and dated. Only pedantic IT managers still herded in the Microsoft corral would...

Paul says: "and in Apple land, "entry level" of course means $600 to $1000, and not $299 as in the PC world." LOL, by that he means Apple doesn't litter us with low-end-disposable-landfill bound-...

The Sharepoint 2007 built-in Wiki is terrible. Don't even bother.
Monday, October 19, 2009 - 2:14pm
In other words, Paul hates Apple success but thinks he can be relevant by reporting it.
Monday, October 19, 2009 - 2:03pm
We implemented Sharepoint back in 2003 with Microsoft pledging their support as we tested it. They promised more document management and pledged their support. We bought, they bailed. We just ripped...

@dipsh t admin You said: "Comparing it to your locally managed environment doesn't make any sense." Sure it does. It doesn't matter if we're talking about email, web hosting or electrical power...

@waethorn: Those hapless Sidekick customers were done in by what turned out to be the incompetence of Microsoft, not the cloud.

I just received an email announcing there are 95 new updates have been synchronized with my WSUS server. 90 f'ng 5!!! This just means Windows will get even slower. On the other hand, our Google...

Paul says: "It's nice to finally see Microsoft firing on all cylinders..." Right. And I bet all those hapless T-Mobile/Danger customers are right now singing the praises of that well-oiled machine...

Are you kidding me Ed Bott? - DRIVERS? Really? He says: "hardware maker are keeping pace with the operating system and hardware." Well gee now, I'd hope they're keeping pace. I mean they've had...

Hah! That's assuming they follow 7 with 8! If history is any indication, they'll avoid naming it sequentially--so's not to associate it with yet another bad release. Personally I think "Windows...

“There’s no chance that the iPhone is going to get any significant market share, no chance." - Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, during an interview with USA Today.

yoshipod, If this were thoroughbred racing you'd be the Triple Crown with these responses. Well Done! I hope everyone now understands that a monopoly does not equal market share but rather market...

yoshipod, Once again a brilliant retort!
Thursday, September 24, 2009 - 10:46am
yoshipod, Bravo! An outstanding reply! Indeed. It's not like Apple is coercing stores to sell only iPods (like Microsoft did with OEMS to thwart sales of the Be OS). Nor does Apple require...

What's the big disappointment here Paul? Microsoft's creed has, and always will be, to copy. Admit it. Except it. It's the first step in the program.
Thursday, September 24, 2009 - 12:27am
@prs: You have a queer way of connecting the dots--which by the way draws incidental and ultimately wrong conclusions. Or maybe you just bruise too easily. If the latter, then try to get more iron...

I've been using Windows 7 for several months now. Meh. it's ok. Definitely not worth the upgrade price. It still has a problem seeing servers in our domain. The new task bar was aped from OS X.
