I don't understand why we need selective sync when we have options to make items available offline or not in current 8.x builds.

I'm not really sure either. I looked it up but it still seems like extra steps to switch between tasks. Maybe if you want the same app doing different things at the same time?

I would LOVE to be able to place live tiles on the Desktop. I think that's what they should have done from the beginning.

Friday, September 12, 2014 - 10:58

OMG, this drives me frickin' nuts! It looks terrible having two columns with one tile in it at the end of full columns! And we should be able to have blank spaces if we want them.

Wednesday, May 14, 2014 - 13:08

I'm not seeing any of these changes on Firefox or IE... What gives?

Tuesday, May 13, 2014 - 11:11

OMG YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No mention of YouTube... I can't imagine it's not part of this so maybe they just didn't want to mention Google?

Tuesday, April 15, 2014 - 10:28

Since you didn't explicitly say it, I just want to point out that Data Sense is no longer carrier dependent! Or is it just that they weren't prepared to block it in the Dev Preview?

Tuesday, April 15, 2014 - 10:23

If I remember correctly, they can pull from RSS feeds so a site doesn't necessarily have to support WP- as long as they have an RSS feed, you'll get live tiles.

Friday, April 4, 2014 - 14:20

Totally agree. As a workaround, I will make my own tattoo style abstract image to use as my background. I don't get why they didn't do that for the demos but then I'm not sure how popular the...

There's no way to bleep out swearing. First, you'd have to have swears detected electronically (they aren't going to hire a legion of staff to listen to games) but computers are not accurate...

The problem for MS is that Google has a near monopoly on search and can offer services for free or nearly free because they get their money through ads; whereas, MS cannot compete (at the moment)...

Tuesday, March 4, 2014 - 14:43

I will never buy one unless they eliminate that requirement. But I don't think this is an explanation either as most people don't know that until they've gotten the machine home and fired up.

Friday, February 7, 2014 - 18:24

I'm with you, cybersaur. I also think they should overlay the start screen on top of the desktop so it doesn't feel like you're switching back and forth.

Thursday, February 6, 2014 - 12:24

I agree. They should have had the start screen tiles overlay the desktop (keeping the task bar at the bottom) and then go away when running something.

Thursday, February 6, 2014 - 12:20

I suspect they will skin the menus before actual launch. Should take about 5 secs.

Monday, February 3, 2014 - 19:05

They may be holding off on the "OneDrive" business because it looks like they are going to get sued on that one as well:...

Sunday, January 26, 2014 - 14:36

I'm sure they will skin the context menus to fit the metro UI before final release.

Friday, December 20, 2013 - 13:19

Maybe it's because they will be implementing user-created hubs (folders) and it just doesn't seem necessary to pour resources into features people don't really use because they forget they're...

I feel that this review should include a section on Xbox Live Gold membership. I'm guessing it's exactly like the 360 where you can't do anything other than play games locally without it? This...

What they ought to do is give away free touch/ type covers with any Surface.

Wednesday, October 9, 2013 - 12:55

Post on the suggestion site to keep the Back button:...

The problem with these projections is that they cannot foresee marketing strategies or game changing features/ hardware.

Tuesday, October 8, 2013 - 13:54

Google has no problem hurting their own users but they won't ignore massive ad revenue. And hopefully we can count on anti-trust regulators to step in.

Wednesday, September 11, 2013 - 15:30

Yeah I don't get this call to sell off Bing. Bing is INTEGRAL to both Windows 8 and Windows Phone. And with Google's animosity (and Yahoo's as soon as their contract w/ Bing expires) toward MS...

I agree- who cares if your phone is a couple ounces heavier and a few millimeters thicker? How is this such a problem? I like that it feels sturdy and I don't feel the need to put it in a case...

Friday, September 6, 2013 - 12:35

No, no, no do not allow 3rd parties to alter these OS's. They will just ruin the experience! Every time I buy a new PC I have to spend all this time removing all their crapware that bogs down...

Well, those Acer tablets are RT models so of course they can get a thinner design with those chips. With Intel you don't get a whole lot of wiggle room in that department.

Monday, August 26, 2013 - 10:55

In settings you can choose whether or not to sync mail, contacts, and calendar for each account that you set up.

Even if you do sync the contacts for both, the phone should automatically...

Monday, August 26, 2013 - 10:51

Linked accounts have already been eliminated so you have to sign out and then back in again. Which is infuriating and why we need the capability to merge accounts.

I don't see why you would want to use this camera for Instagram- that service is all about making your photos look crappier.
