Haven't been able to get WiFi settings to properly sync unfortunately. Was testing it out in external offices yesterday and while my new Windows 8.1 devices all connected instantly (even though...

Friday, April 18, 2014 - 10:32am

Had a bit of a glitch with Facebook where it wiped all my Facebook contacts from the people hub but a re-sync fixed that.

It does seem to be defaulting to using Outlook.com profile photos...

Um, IE doesn't support fully offline services so it's not MS showing preference to other platforms, it's simply them tailoring their services to suit the strengths of other platforms. It's smart...

It's a shame there don't seem to be any 3200x1800 14" panels in production anywhere, that would have been a much better option as a 1600x900 pixel double.

HiDPI should have been a new start...

Wednesday, April 9, 2014 - 7:26pm

I'd hope they wouldn't ditch the tablet option altogether (Though they could easily cram an 11.6" screen in the current sized model) as I love the current form factor but am all for them providing...

Friday, April 4, 2014 - 7:44am

I really hope one of these devices (from MS) is a tiny little Xbox for £99 to compete with AppleTV, Chromecast, Roku, and now Amazon Fire TV too.

Sure, lots of people have Xbox 360's, but...

Thursday, April 3, 2014 - 7:50pm

Right now they probably don't know which OS to put on Surface Mini.

Clearly they're taking some time away from RT until the 'modern' environments from Windows and Windows Phone are merged...

Thursday, April 3, 2014 - 2:48pm

This is great news! And, I'm assuming, near confirmation that until Threshold, Windows RT in it's current form is more-or-less dead?

Otherwise why not give RT away for free with it being...

Thursday, April 3, 2014 - 2:30pm

As you say, it must be done properly and carefully or else it just looks messy and tacky.

I was surprised that none of the demo images MS used during the keynote worked particularly well...

Thursday, March 27, 2014 - 3:22pm

I really hope Office for WinRT at least has the option for this kind of interface (only more Metroized).

As cool as the OneNote RT radial menu is, it's bloody annoying at times and an...

Adobe? Irrelevant?

Lol, hardly. Adobe simply realised who it's actual paying customers are (professionals) and decided to build products for them.

Microsoft is doing the same, and I...

I really hope this comes to the Xbox Music app, it's such a great idea! Mainly want it for the Windows version but it would be a cool option to have for Windows Phone too.

Tuesday, January 28, 2014 - 12:36pm

I'd imagine email will stay Outlook and the business version will become Outlook Pro, similar to what they've done to SkyDrive.

Or Outlook Online and Outlook Online Pro. Hopefully nothing...

Friday, December 20, 2013 - 4:26pm

Probably not. Users on the web and on Windows 8.1 have access to free (ad-supported) streaming anyway and I assume that will be coming to Xbox One and Windows Phone sooner or later and eventually...

Friday, December 20, 2013 - 4:22pm

They should at least keep the basics for the integrations such as the people hub, me tile, and photos hub.

I've honestly never been that bothered by integration into the photos hub by the...

Thursday, December 5, 2013 - 6:27pm

Great ad! It feels more positive than the others stuff they've done recently which I appreciated. And wow, actually mentioning Photoshop and Illustrator?! Always nice when Microsoft bothers to...

Thursday, November 7, 2013 - 12:49pm

It's crazy how much functionality the web apps had already, let alone these new features added in.

The real-time co-authoring is huge and it's been a big thing that Google Docs has had over...

Saturday, November 2, 2013 - 1:54pm

It uses brand new Synaptics technology for the digitiser rather than Wacom (or NTrig) and so far results have been mixed.

Take a look at this thread, there's 80+ pages of comments. I think...

Thursday, October 31, 2013 - 3:52pm

Also, out of interest. Do we know what actually constitutes a Windows tablet yet? Is it literally just anything that either doesn't have a keyboard (or can detach from the keyboard)?

How do...

Thursday, October 31, 2013 - 3:50pm

As much as I'd like to see them sell 16M Windows tablets this holiday... Well... Good luck! ;)

If they really wanted to shift them they should gut Windows RT of Office and the desktop then...

Wednesday, October 16, 2013 - 4:53pm

Your best bet would be to check out the WPCentral forums. They're really busy and full of people switching across all platforms.

Wednesday, October 16, 2013 - 10:28am

Also, Nokia's Storage Check app is giving me different numbers. Though perhaps that is just down to it not being optimised for GDR3?

Wednesday, October 16, 2013 - 10:23am

I'm unsure this is as good as it seems.

In GDR2 I had 2GB of other storage taking up space on my phone and only 1GB of space free which was causing both my phone to run slow and I had to...

Monday, October 14, 2013 - 10:31am

Wow, it really is all good news! I'm slightly stunned, and very excited to try it out later this week! :)

After two not very exciting updates from the Windows Phone team there's some very...

Saturday, October 12, 2013 - 8:38am

Agreed in part. The issue is that Microsoft embedded too many of its native apps (Office, OneNote, Outlook, IE, Xbox Music etc.) into the OS rather than just having them as installed apps.

...

Wednesday, October 9, 2013 - 11:41am

I find the back button incredibly useful on Windows Phone and would hate to see it go in the OS's current form as it's such an integral part of navigation.

Still, I don't miss the back...

Monday, October 7, 2013 - 12:03pm

This all can't happen soon enough, great news!

Office, Xbox Music and Video, Xbox Live Games... Get them everywhere! Sure, offer some exclusive goodies for people using Windows/Windows...

Friday, October 4, 2013 - 7:14pm

I think we're definitely getting the best saved for last and now there's only HP and Lenovo to look to out of the "big" names.

The Venue Pro 8 is definitely my next purchase (assuming there...

Friday, September 13, 2013 - 4:23pm

I literally laughed out loud at "feel how light that is", hah!

But yeah, the new iPhones really are boring. It's nice they finally got on the colour band wagon (No idea why they dropped it...

Monday, August 26, 2013 - 1:11pm

If it started at $299 we could've finally had a viable RT tablet, $499 is ludicrous.

I'd have hoped both Nokia and Microsoft would've learned from their experiences with both Windows Phone...
