On October 22, 2009, Microsoft will formally launch Windows 7 at an event in New York City. And that night, Windows experts Ed Bott, Mary Jo Foley, Paul Thurrott, and Tom Warren will host a party celebrating the event. We're tentatively confirmed for Antarctica, which is located on 287 Hudson Street in New York City, right on the Hudson River.
Courtesy of Microsoft's Windows 7 Launch Party system, we should even have some give-aways, including free copies of Windows 7 Ultimate. I will have more details about the time and place as the day gets closer.
Regarding the Party Pack, I was away last week when it arrived, but I thought you might still be interested in the contents. Here's what came in the mail:
Signature edition of Windows 7 Ultimate, signed by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. Contrary to reports I'd seen elsewhere, both 32-bit and 64-bit discs are in fact included.
Windows 7 wallpaper puzzle. A puzzle of the turtle "Characters" wallpaper was included in my Pack.
Streamers and balloons. Yes, seriously. And Windows 7 logo-d napkins, tablecloth, poster, and place setting.
Windows 7 playing cards. Curiously, on the back of the cards is a design that does not appear on any Windows 7 wallpaper or imagery.
Zune Pass cards. 14-day Zune Pass cards.
Promotional offers. Promotional offers from Nero, Norton, Kaspersky, and Corel are also included. Additionally, a set of cards from Microsoft pointing to a URL for launch party participants that will go live October 22.
