This week in "Windows 8.1 Book," I completed the first draft version of the Internet Explorer chapter. But the big story is that it's time to figure out a final name for this book.

It's actually been two weeks since the last update, but progress has been slow since I got back from vacation. You can find the past two weeks of updates below (newest first, as usual), but the bigger issue concerns the name of the book.

As per previous navel-gazing episodes like this from "Windows Phone Book," which eventually became known as Paul Thurrott's Windows Phone 8, we'd like to pick something that works both for this book and for a series of books. (Indeed, I'll probably rename Paul Thurrott's Windows Phone 8 and Paul Thurrott's Xbox Music 2.0 to fit within this new series name if that makes sense.

So we're back to the drawing board. I'd like to leave the "Paul Thurrott" bit out of the name. But beyond that I'm open to ideas.

Here are the most recent updates to the book, which is now 388 pages long.

First draft of the Internet Explorer chapter is now complete

Here is a rough draft of the INTERNET EXPLORER chapter for "Windows 8.1 Book." For the second week in a row, I didn't get as much done as I'd like, and I probably should have delivered at least one more interim release of this chapter, but whatever: It's "done" and I'm happy to move on. This one of those topics that's not super-interesting (since it's all semi-obvious) but needs to be in there.

Internet Explorer 0.1 and Book 0.36

Here is a first look at the INTERNET EXPLORER chapter for "Windows 8.1 Book." This chapter focuses on the Modern version of Microsoft's web browser, though I'm curious if there needs to be some coverage of desktop-only features too.

Name?

As we head into the final stretch on the 1.0 version of the book, we need to start thinking about a number of things. Not the least of which is a name. I mean, "Windows 8.1 Book" is cute and everything. But we need a real name.
