Microsoft Launches Bing App for iPad

As if we needed more evidence of Microsoft's better support for competing mobile platforms than for Windows Phone, the company today announces a new Bing mobile app ... for iPad.

Today, Bing released the Bing for iPad app, a new way to interact with Bing. Since launching, Bing has been focused on helping people stop searching and start deciding – regardless of where they are. The Bing for iPad app goes beyond the traditional search experience, offering a new visually rich way to search the Web. The experience is designed specifically to capture the fluid and intuitive nature of touch on a large, high resolution screen – allowing you to quickly browse news, movies, weather, local business listing and much more. And, you can do it all with the swipe of a finger – no more back button.

Bing for iPad includes the following interesting new features:

Custom Design: Everything you need to start your day is right at your fingertips. The app’s opening page provides a quick glance at everything you need to know: local weather, top news, maps, movies in theaters, top trends and stock market news.

Trends: Catch up on the latest popular news topics through pictures with the Trends icon on the homepage. Click on a picture and get the latest headlines. Everything from breaking news, gossip, fashion scoop, sports news, etc. is covered. Everything you need and want to know is in one convenient location – never go searching multiple news sites again.

Maps: Click the Map icon on the homepage to find your exact location and what’s near. Locate local top-rated businesses and get directions with one-touch.

This is the kind of thing Microsoft does really well. Other sections within Redmond should take note of this and push their products to other platforms, and keep them updated. You said something similar before about the Zune software that should be available everywhere.
They really have to push their products, it is all really good stuff.

If Microsoft can produce such a slick app for Apple, why cant Apple do like wise for Mircrosoft, Windows iTunes is clunky, and the Quicktime player is so dated.

No international release = FAIL!

Why does Microsoft suck so bad about timing international releases to coincide at the same time?

This is what kills most of their pet projects.

Thanks for the update! It’s definitely interesting that Microsoft seems to be putting in more support for competing mobile platforms rather than the Windows phone. The new Bing app for iPad looks sleek and useful, wonder when it’ll be launched?
